About Us

Our Hosts

Jeff Covert, MSGT, Retired and Marine veteran Tony Tijerina following the proclamation by Gen John A. Lejeune  on November 1,1921 for all Marines to acknowledge and celebrate our Marine Corps Birthday, November 10, 1775 each and every year. Marines around the globe pause and celebrate each year. Jeff and Tony created the Marines and Friends Cruise to provide Marines, their families and friends a fun filled week long vacation during which we pause and celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday with the traditional cake cutting ceremony passing the traditions from the oldest Marine present to the youngest Marine present.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Do we have to be Marines?

A:  Absolutely not!!, Actually the Marines are usually outnumbered by family and friends, and that is what makes it so awesome!!

Q:  Aside from the Marine Corps Birthday Celebration, are there other group activities?A:  Oh Yes, we have:

  1.  a pre-embarkation get together for those who arrive in Fort Lauderdale, Florida before the day of sailing, usually a casual event at hotel and sometimes a group dinner.
  2. We also have the Sail Away Party the day of embarkation, that goes as late as there are still two standing.....,
  3. We also enjoy an amazing race type of event for the adventurous one of the group, and we have a theme night, in past years we have had a Pirates Night and a Roaring 20's Flapper Night.
  4. There are group dinners that guests may opt out or join as often as they prefer.
  5. Various Meet and greets are arranged during the week with the ships crew and other veterans.

Q:  We want to book, but what if we can't make the cruise for some reason, yet unknown to us?

A:  You may book now, and all deposits/payments are refundable up until the final payment date of 14 August 2017.   After the final payment date, there is a penalty for cancelling the cruise.   Our guests our highly encouraged to purchase travel insurance.   In the last five years, we have had two late cancellations due to medical reasons.  On both occasions, travel insurance protected those unfortunate folks 100 percent.

Q: Can a single cruise book?
